March 2026- Day 6

 Hello everyone! This is Bronté!

Today we all woke up, and all ate breakfast burritos that Amylia and Owen made for us. After breakfast, we all got ready and then went upstairs for church. After praying together as a church, Lyannette used one of her great talents and sang with the other members of the worship team. Mr. Zaleski gave a message on the biblical term of "adoption," and what it means to be a part of the church family. After church, we then got to see some friends that we met at the concert the night before, exchanged Instagram handles, and took some pictures with them as well. Next, we all walked to the local mall and got to eat lunch with the whole DR team and a few members of the church. We all got some rice, beans, salad, and some variation of meat. We also got to try Dominican bubble gum and a treat called dulce de leche. After making sure to clean up the space we used, we walked back to the church for "siesta time". Most students used the time to sleep or rest, but Amylia, Ellie, Leah, and I used the time to get some sun or play soccer while listening to music. Our siesta time today was short, and we then had to get changed and prepared to go to the colonial zone, otherwise known as "Ciudad Colonial". This city was less than thirty minutes from the church in which we were staying. We all piled into the van and traveled to the colonial zone. We went to the city with our team, Cheo, Mendoza, and some of the youth from the church! This city was full of history as it was the oldest European settlement in the Americas. We got to see the Pantheon of the Fatherland, Calle El Conde, Calle Las Damas, and Parque Duarte, which is a memorial to remember their founding fathers. We also had time to look at the local Burger King menu, get ice cream or strawberries, shop for souvenirs, and also had many opportunities to take photos! We spent lots of time walking around and enjoying the history of the city. Most of us got gifts for loved ones, and most importantly, lots of memories to keep forever. We then left the city after taking way too many pictures and headed back to the church. When we arrived back at the church, we were greeted by a bunch of lovely ladies who made dinner for us! There was lots of food to share and enjoy among the members of the church. It was great to talk to each other regardless of the language barrier and share cultures with one another. During this time, we collectively felt so much love and affection from the people there. We cleared our places, said our goodbyes, and then gathered together as a team in the dining space to debrief and talk about tomorrow's agenda. Thanks for reading!

Prayer Requests:

1. For the safety and ease of tomorrow's trip.

2. To keep the relationships that we have created down here in this lovely country.

3. For the individuals who came to the church service today at Kefalé, and that they would continue to attend.
