Last day of DR Winter 2024
Hello friends and family! Now that our trip is coming to an end, we want to express to everyone how incredibly grateful we are for your support; whether through donations, prayer, or emotional support, we appreciate all that you do and have done to give us this amazing opportunity.
Everyone woke up this morning to Kyro cooking sausages, potatoes, and eggs for breakfast and it was all delicious. Pastor Tito has been so incredibly welcoming and generous this trip and it was no different today, as he planned to take us to the beach for a day of fun and relaxation. While there were no direct service opportunities planned, we spent the whole day strengthening our bond as brothers and sisters. We threw a football and baseball in the water, which turned into throwing balls of wet sand and seaweed at each other. We spent some time eating food under the palms and talking and laughing with each other. Some collected seashells while others continued to talk or throw around the football, and I may have gotten distracted by a dog once or twice (it was more than that).
Around 4:00, Cheo drove us back to the church for a little bit of downtime before we drove right back out for dinner. We stopped at a Colombian empanada stand, ordered our food, and walked over to a nearby park for a time of fellowship with one another. To see how the group’s relationship with one another has strengthened from the beginning of the trip until now is such a blessing, and we are each so incredibly thankful to be a part of it. Thank you all once again for your love, prayer, and support. We ask that you continue to pray for us tomorrow, as we board two flights on our way back home to Cleveland.
This trip has been truly amazing; we were able to meet so many awesome kids and adults, serving them how Christ demonstrated to us. Whether it was giving families mattresses, providing them with shoes, or just hanging out with them and having fun, we all felt so blessed and humbled to spend time with them. Alongside that, we tried many new foods, met many new people, and learned many new games on this trip as well. What we have written in these updates barely scratches the surface of all the memories we’ve made on this trip, so we are excited to return tomorrow. We are all ready to tell stories and reflect on how God has revealed himself to us through this trip.
God bless you all and have a wonderful night!
Ben Comer
